A local plant nursery consultant said I can dissolve 1 tablespoon of Hendricks Organics Bouquet 4-8-4 fertilizer in a gallon of water and apply to an established tomato plant. Is this true? Also, will your fertilizer hurt pets (dog or cat)?
Greetings and thank you for contacting us with your questions!
Our fertilizers are made with all organic natural ingredients such as feather meal and bone meal, so they will not harm your pets. We recommend mixing the fertilizer into the top inch of your soil because dogs may try to eat it if it is not mixed into the top inch of soil. If your dog does eat it, they might get diarrhea if they were to eat too much, just as with anything one would overconsume that is considered rich food, but overall it poses no harm to pets.
You can dissolve our fertilizer in water, however, the concentration of ingredients will be highly diluted and the heavier mineral ingredients such as the potassium and calcium, will settle to the bottom and does not actually dissolve, so we do not recommend doing this as a regular process in applying our fertilizers. Mixing the granules into the top inch of soil is what we recommend for optimum results.
